Festive Labour
With Hari Raya fast approaching a lot need to be done around the house. No its not what it seems, this is not child labour... its just labour of LOVE ;-)
Aidil, Haiqal & Shaqil for all your efforts, you will be rewarded in due time.
when i was a kid, i was used to that kind of "kerahan tenaga.." Menyampah memang tak payah cakap laa..But then again, i am sure, one day, they ll find that all those sprint cleaning, or house chores will do they good in the future. :)
nothing compared to our forced labour by our beloved umi- to peel thousands of boiled peanuts skin for her to fry kacang tojen. now that's the real peanuts,so crunchy and oily.
during the peeling nobody counts as it only adds to the torture. at the end of the one hour or so, our fingers will shrink and look like dried raisins or our b**ls after a cold bath. oh yes we will be thinking of an ingenous way to shortcut the process, but realise there's none
on raya night (why must it always be last minute?) we all will bring in the carpet, hang the langsir, vacuum, and ....wax the floor with red polish. (that was before our parents decided the red floor needed new white marble tiles, which happened after we had all left home for kl. )
And i wonder whether these kids will ever see anything "good" from these chores exprience, cos they will probably just employ foreign maids and contract workers to do the job when they grow up (hehe)
