Pasar ke Pasar

juicy fruits excellent for buka puasa, sold at the entrance of Pasar Chow Kit

For a change I thought it would be a good idea to stock up food during the Ramadhan by going to Pasar Chow Kit since the last I went there was like ages ago. After struggling to find a parking lot, the first impression I had upon entering the ayam and daging section is like its a market along the streets of calcutta where majority of the sellers are foreigners. The place is really filthy too.
It is not the same Pasar Chow Kit that I used to know.
I ended buying just fruits and decided to adjourn to a more familiar and cleaner Pasar Keramat

fresh fish and vegetables from Pasar Keramat anytime cheaper and fresher than some hyper market.

Is smelly too! I used to go to Pasar Keramat when I was a student at ARGS. Took the shortcut at Kg Bumiputera every afternoon after school just to buy lunch.

Soon, the pasar will be gone once they reluctantly move to the new building. Only thing remains are memories.

there's really no change in the smelly and dirty character of pasar chow kit. chow means dirty, what .so must keep to its brand essence. I used to regularly go there for fresh fish was there again last month. i like to see the real people. and the fact that more people go there means there must be something there that the hypermarts can't offer...which also happens to be cheap.and people look for bargains,,just for the heck of it.
as for pasar keramat, the new pasar is yet to be completed. after more than 10 years.. corruption, inefficiecy etc again rearing its ugly head. like the martrade building . wonder how much more money willl be poured in to complete it.
i luv the nasi lemak sotong and ayam goreng at the bus stop, and watching the trafic go by. keramat ....my kampung for the last 20 years. can you kira
